Moonlight Forums End Of Life

One of my last posts on Moonlight forums is saying that I will shut the forum down for 4.0. Their are many reasons to this but the main reason is because of legal and maintaining it. It is very hard to maintain a forum the size of Moonlight forums, making sure their is proper moderation, servers are working, updating it, etc. When Moonlight forums released in March of 2023 (with Moonlight 3.0) we were barely even breaking through 10,000 users a month. Since then we have grown to over 300,000 users a month but that means more moderation, maintaining, upkeeping, and, of course legal. We don't have a proper legal team like most other companies. This is because simply, we are not big enough. If someone decided to post something that is inappropriate and someone wanted to come after us, we would not survive as a company (and nobody wants that). So we have decided that the 4.0 forum is going to be closed for open discussion and only be used to suggest games, share links, report bugs, get notified of important events, etc.

Yes... we will be re-building Moonlight forums to, as I said, suggest games, share links, report bugs, get notified of important events, etc. I will be transporting user profiles over to the new forum but all messages will be deleted (this includes private discussions). So anyone who had a account or wants to create a account can login with existing credentials or create a new account if you prefer. 

When the forums crashed, many images were lost and corrupted. This means when we transport users data over to the new forum, you profile image and/or banner may not exist anymore. After experimenting, we have found that simply replacing your profile picture and banner will do the trick. 

Discord will be the new replacement for Moonlight forums because of a stronger legal team, more organized channels, better discovery, etc.

We are putting in a LOT of effort into the 4.0 proxy such as adding in security features to block certain impropriate 18+ websites and making the proxy efficient, as error free as possible, and best of all, blazing fast. This means that Discord will be as fast as it normally is on your personal computer, laptop, phone etc. I've been personally using the 4.0 proxy myself to use discord, browse the web, etc. and even on a extremely small server, it was as fast as it normally is on my web browser.

Creating a Discord account is as easy as creating a account on the forum. All you need is your first name, email, and date of birth (to confirm you are over 13). If you legally had a account on the forum with proper information, then you should be good to create a account on Discord as well. Of course same rules apply on the discord and the forum.

You are probably saying "ewwwwwwwwww your discord sucks", and I totally understand. In preparation for 4.0 release, we will be completely re-doing the Discord to make it easier navigate. Please note that this is one of the last steps in 4.0 development so you probably will not see this happen in a month or two.

As of now, the best ways to get links is through our TikTok videos or just doing your own research on Google. Before, although, the best way to get links was the forums, which is now down. For 4.0 we are making a new way to get links. We will be making a link bot in our revamped Discord server. All you will have to do is click a button and a official link will be given to you. Not only that but if you want links that are confirmed to be working, you will also be able to download our app on the Apple store (releasing the same date as 4.0) and on the Play Store (already released but currently in BETA, full version releasing on 4.0 release date). Along with that, you will be able to get community made links and found links from the new forums as well.

In January 2024, Moonlight Forums crashed. We are not planning to fix it, but we are planning to completely re-do it. We are planning to move to Discord for better security and ease of use. We are planning to revamp our proxy to be as convenient and fast as possible. We are planning to revamp out Discord server for better ease of use. We are planning to create a link bot to get links. And, of course, we are planning to update and release our app to the Apple app store. I think the good outweighs the bad here, what do you think?
